Urban Town Dollhouse: Reveal

Meet the Urban Town Dollhouse! A brand new 1/12 scale kit designed by me for miniatures.com.  It's a  contemporary dwelling meant to fit on a narrow city lot (or in an already full miniaturist's studio!).  I can't tell you how excited I am to share this year long secret with you! The Urban Town is now available for pre-order with estimated in stock date mid-October.

This dollhouse measures 14.875 in deep x 24 in wide x 32 in high.  It has two balconies with glass railings, contemporary stairs and rails, 3 brand new custom door styles, and modern windows.  Even with a narrow footprint there are 5 main rooms and one back hallway that is accessible via a balcony door, an interior door (bathroom) and a hallway (office).  So much room to get creative!

While designing the Brentwood dollhouse kit in 2022 was a dream come true, the Urban Town dollhouse fulfills a long held wish of mine. When I first started blogging I so badly wanted a contemporary dollhouse but there were so few options at the time.   I didn't have access to a laser cutter or 3D printer.  So bringing this kit to life and making it accessible to everyone has been incredible.  Me back in 2010 wouldn't have believed it!

A huge thank you to the entire team at miniatures.com for partnering with me again and giving me total creative freedom when designing this kit.  I knew I wanted a lot of custom features and I'm so thrilled with all the amazing wood components that make this kit really shine.  I truly believe you could just paint the kit as is and not add anything extra (like siding or panels) and it still would be a beautiful modern dollhouse.

This is part one in my Urban Town dollhouse series.  Stay tuned for the kit design process, the exterior finishes, interior finishes, lighting the dollhouse, and all my sources.  Also included will be printable templates to make the panels on the exterior.  I can't wait to show you everything!  Please let me know if you want to know anything specific and I'll do my best to address it in a future post.
